Dinner Adventure

The benefits of working long hours and not having a real summer every year is being able to eat in some of the best restaurants NYC has to offer. Not to brag, well yes to brag: STK, Quality Meats, Trattoria Dell Arte, Le Crique, Del Frisco's, and so on.  It's a super major plus when you're a foodie like myself; for others, well it's just another lunch or dinner.

My latest dinner adventure with work was, Stanton Social, the popular "tapas" place in the Lower East Side.  I quote tapas because Owners, Chris Santos, Richard Wolf (TAO) and Peter Kane (Happy Ending) call them "share plates,"  which is exactly what they are.  The plates come out portioned for the amount of people eating at the table, so everyone tastes all the dishes.  I like what they're doing, the atmosphere combined with the passable dishes to share make for a great group environment.  It creates a place where everyone is involved and gets a chance to try multiple dishes.  If you look around, the scene is one any wanna be "it" person would die to be caught in; exuding stylishness, luxury, and elegance.

A Burger Competition...

It might come as a surprise to you but I like burgers!  One might even use the word LOVE instead, to express my feelings towards those juicy meat patties.  Ok maybe not a complete surprise since I did post a few days back about the lamb burger at the Breslin and how it's a burger I would dream about.  But anyway, let's stay focused, see people always try to say that one burger is better than another burger and then they try to award one particular burger the title of "Best Burger".  In my opinion, you can't do that when there are so many different types of burgers out there.  It's like claiming on specific slice of pizza as the "Best Pizza" when that clearly can't be done because of the all the different choices and varieties out there.  (which is a whole other topic of conversation for another day)

Restaurant Week

In my opinion, Restaurant Week is an experience everyone must indulge in; at least once.

If you're not familiar, here is a little info on Restaurant Week:
So in a nutshell it's an "event" that happens twice a year (Winter/Summer) where the best/finest restaurants in NYC offer their menus for a fraction of the price.  There's a pri-Fixed menu, usually priced between $24-$35 depending on lunch or dinner, offering a three-course meal.  Most places usually serve just lunch but some will participate for dinner. It allows you to try out that fancy restaurant you've been dying to eat at but can't really afford.

Blue, Lamb, Craft....

Last week was a bit of an adventure for me, culinary and craft beer wise......

On Thursday, I had the opportunity to go to Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House in NYC.  This led me to eating the BEST Blue Cheese Wedge Salad EVER!  I've only had a few wedge salads in my life, but there is no mistaking that this will become the wedge salad no other wedge salad can live up to.  First off, the bacon was smoked and crisp, just the way i love it and second, to top it off, the blue cheese wasn't any ordinary blue cheese from a dressing bottle; it was top notch dutch blue, creamy and pungent and delicious.

Food Photograhy

So I have a confession, I LOVE TAKING PICTURES OF MY FOOD.  You can call me weird, that's fine, but I know I'm not the only one who loves it.  I mean there's entire website dedicated to food pics, SEE !!!
I'll even go as far as snapping shots of other peoples food, it's gotta come from my passion for anything food related.  I decided I wanted to share with the world all the wonderful images I had on my iPhone of the things I ate and things people at the same table as me ate. (obviously, I'm not taking pics of strangers food -well let's be honest, I might do that).  Here ya go, BON APPETIT!
